Wisdom Teeth x 2

 

Last week Aliza and Josiah had their wisdom teeth removed. These two could not have been more opposite in their approach to this event. Josiah didn't want to talk about it or be reminded that it was coming. He was glad he was having twilight anesthesia and would not remember anything. Aliza was excited, wished that she was having more than nitrous for anesthesia and wanted to watch Josiah's teeth be removed. She settled for asking the dentist to explain to her what she was doing. 

We arrived a few minutes early for our 9:15 appointment and we walking out the door at 10:15. For insurance purposes, we went to a practice in Annapolis so it was a 2 hour drive there and then home again. 

It was a little dicey walking out of the office and going down the elevator with two kids that were still under the influence of drugs. For a minute there I was a little nervous about driving home with them. The funniest thing Josiah said happened when we got in the car. He was trying to convince me that he was "all there", that he wasn't loopy anymore. So he's telling us that he is all there and then says, "Never mind. I think I'm still missing something. I think it's Jesus."  I laughed. 

We made it home. I got them on a schedule for ibuprofen and tylenol and they settled in to start watching all of the Mission Impossible movies. That has been a week long activity. 

Everything went so much smoother than I even hoped. Their soreness has always been manageable. Aliza was pretty swollen. Their biggest frustration was having to eat so slowly! 

I'm glad I scheduled them both at the same time and I'm glad that this milestone is behind us!
