A Sunday Afternoon Update

Well, this is Josiah's new position of choice. Mobility is right around the corner. Time goes too fast.

I mentioned in a previous post that I was having a neck ultrasound done as a way to check for returning cancer. I am very thankful that that ultrasound was perfectly clear. The Dr. told me that they couldn't find anything to even be concerned about. I wasn't really worried, but it is nice to know all is well.

I also had my thyroid medicine reduced again and, wow, I'm feeling good. Sometimes body changes are so subtle that they are difficult to detect and you adjust to them thinking they are normal. This is my second dose reduction since Josiah has been born. I was feeling just unsettled, not feeling properly rested even though I was sleeping, often I felt nervous for no reason and if I had a reason to feel nervous I felt really, really nervous. It's just good to feel good and I'm hoping that I'm at a dose that will keep me feeling good for a long time!

Tuesday is the first day of classes at SU and I won't be there. I decided to end my pursuit of a Master's Degree. It was a hard decision and I felt like crying in the end. I just kept seeing myself at a fork in the road so to speak. Down one path was the Master's and a career and down the other was raising a family. I know for a lot of people those things on the same road, but for me I had to make a choice knowing that I only have one life to live. I chose raising my children and with that will very likely be homeschooling. I've been working hard to be content cleaning house and playing with the children. Some days I feel very fulfilled and other days I wake up and wish I could take a shower, get dressed in nice coordinating clothes and leave the house for an adult world. I'm choosing to take delight in my scrapbooking moments, the possiblity of a cake decorating class, visits with family and friends and any other personally enriching opportunity that comes my way.

We are still moving forward on our addition plans. An architect is producing blueprints for us. It will be exciting to see those completed. Jeremy and I walked through a furniture store the other week. It was fun to dream together.

And one more thing.... My nephew turns one tomorrow! Happy Birthday Caleb!

Josiah--6 Months

Josiah is 6 months old today! I guess he decided to celebrate by taking a short nap today. =) He sits all alone, moves around in a circle, and rocks on his knees. It won't be long before this little guy is mobile.

Influential College Aunts

On our drive home tonight we were chatting with Aliza. We told her that she was smart. And then she promptly informed us "I go college." And we nonchalantly said "ok."

We've never talked about her going to college so the only thing we can figure is that she picked up on her aunts leaving for college and decided that is what she was going to do that too. Laura and Linda, never underestimate your influence!!!

Happy Birthday to me---Again!

Laura's birthday present for me was dinner for two and last night was the special night! A table for two was set in the living room and everyone else ate in the dining room. It was better than a restaurant! We had salad, rolls, steak, loaded baked potato and peas. To top it off...cookie ice cream sandwich with Linda's chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!! Along with our yummy food Jeremy and I had a lovely adult meal with adult conversation. Thanks Laura!

Play Therapy

If a therapist were analyzing my child's play they would learn that Aliza is thinking about potty training and obeying Mommy.

In the first picture Aliza is teaching her baby doll to go to the potty. Baby gets wiped and everything!

In the second picture Aliza put her baby in time out and then joined baby in act of solidarity, I guess. Aliza asked me to set the timer and then informed the Baby that she was in time out for disobeying (Yes, yes, yes I now know that she knows the word and knows what I mean!). Baby did get a hug when time out was over....a small consolation to me.

Olympics Junkie

Once in a while I'm really spoiled by Jeremy's technological abilities. We have chosen not to have a TV, but we have the capability of watching TV through an application called Myth TV on the computer. Jeremy hasn't had the TV working for a long time so when I started calling my Mom to see if I could borrow a TV to watch the Olympics Jeremy got our TV working.....MAGIC!!! But here is where I get spoiled--He was able to connect my laptop to Myth TV wirelessly so I can watch the Olympics upstairs while I'm doing other things. AND the other really cool thing is that Myth TV can be paused so when the children need to be re-tucked in I can pause and not miss anything AND skip over the commercials. So for the next couple weeks just consider me an Olympic junkie.

Too bad I'm too old to race my siblings to the supper table for Gold, Silver and Bronze!

So last night Jeremy and I (he was as into it as I was) stayed up to watch Michael Phelps and company beat France in the Men's Freestyle Relay. What a race that was! Michael Phelps' face was priceless when he realized they won. I stayed up way too late last night and Jeremy even skipped P90X to watch.

What Now?

I've written before about our family walks to visit the horses. Well, it has been a week or so since we walked. Tonight it was a bit cooler and so we decided to take a walk. We approached the fence that feels almost like our own and was welcomed with a new sign. One that said basically Danger....electric fence. Now what? Jeremy checked it out and the line is within extremely easy reach of the rail that Aliza hangs on to. I actually did knock on the neighbor's door and asked them if the sign was new (heaven forbid that I had missed this sign all this time!) and whether the fence was always going to be activated. Yes to both.

On the walk back I remembered a conversation with another neighbor about these horses getting loose recently so that is probably the reason they went with the electric fence.

But now I'm not sure what to do. Obviously I have a safety issue, but the road is so nice to walk on I don't want to lose it!

Janell's Wedding

I'm tired, very, very tired. But here are a couple pictures to pique your interest. I'll do a huge picture post with narration with Jeremy's pictures later. No one can see Jeremy's pictures until the bride does! =) Give me a couple weeks. I have 1000 pictures to sort through. Jeremy and Jared were a little excited (maybe nervous) yesterday.
